A family history spanning generations

The history of L'Ancora della Tortuga dates back to the 1950s, when the Viviani family's grandmother nurtured the dream of opening a business in Monterosso al Mare. At a time when moving from the mountains to the sea was a bold move, she determinedly built a business that would become a landmark for the town.
She opened the first bar in Monterosso, complete with a jukebox, television, and billiards room, and in the 1960s, together with her family, she also opened a hotel. From that experience, values such as hospitality, respect for work, and a strong connection to the local area have been passed down.
Silvia and Giovanni Battista Viviani inherited this precious legacy after years spent alongside their parents and grandparents, learning every aspect of hospitality and cooking. Their family experience, combined with their passion for catering, gave rise to L'Ancora della Tortuga in 2007, a project born with the goal of offering authentic cuisine and a warm welcome that makes every guest feel at home.
Even today, that same spirit continues to guide the restaurant's daily work, keeping alive the teachings received and the desire to promote Monterosso al Mare, Liguria, and the traditions that make this area unique.
